Question: Dad had a quadruple heart bypass 3 days ago. He seems to be deteriorating. What can I do or ensure is done?
My dad 76, who was a pilot, in excellent health, had a stroke, in Eup Nov 07. He recovered quickly & seemed healthy again; he wanted to determine what initiated the stroke. He returned to South Africa where they took numerous ECG's. He was to have an Angiogram, but the Cardiologists decided 26/3 that he needed a bypass. The next morning they operated on him. We discovered on Friday it was a quadruple bypass. However, he felt no pain, no angina, has no cholesterol, not a smoker, no diabetes but has a history of cntr hypertension. He had fluid build up in his lungs the prior week. Speculated that a clot from the heart resulted in the stroke. The left portion of his heart is “lame" – hindering O2 flow to bdy. Whats the BEST aftercare for him now? He indicates that the P.therapist is pressing on his sternum,is that norm? He initially had excessive bleeding, this dissipated. All tubes were removed, besides the drip ystday, & he seems far weaker 2day & very nauseous. He had solids ystday.HLP
