Question: My mom has basically controlled my wardrobe my whole life...?
She wants my style to be hers...
Lol, the funny thing is she's into modern "in style" crap...
I'm into late 60-70's clothes... I also love the whole bohemian look!
I've recently realized she dresses me up in a somewhat sl*tty way (for a 14 year old)
Well, not necessarily sl*tty... More so clothes that make me appear about 20.
I rather wear my peasant tops than a tight TIGHT sweater...
Anyway, how can I convince her to let me dress in MY style? I don't want to be her Barbie doll anymore…
(Oh and she HATES my band shirts… I love wearing my grateful dead T’s, led zeppelin, rolling stones etc.)

Ok well say this to your mom " Mom I don't want to be your barbie doll anymore. I think I am old enough to dress my self. you have your style and I have mine."

she's probably just trying to stay close to you now you'ree growing up so go easy =)

so you have to say something, maybe suggest going shopping together for your stuff and her stuff.

Yes! I'm 56 now, but I still remember the day when my mom threw out my grandfather's deerskin coat, which I wore everywhere even though it was old and stained. At your age, your parents should relax about what you want to wear unless you look sl*tty. Besides, you have good taste in music. I would throw the Doors, Santana, the Beattles and Hendrix into the mix.
my mom said even when i was about 4 i wouldnt wear those cute dresses she wanted me to wear.
i just started buying my own clothes
and if she wouldnt let me go out in it id bring them with me and change.
